MOODBOARD
Alex Hammerstone is a wrestler for Major League Wrestling, he was holding at that time their World Heavyweight and their Openweight Championship. He has a characteristic look that is a cross over between an 80’s rockstar and comic book Thor, so I took that as inspiration to create something unique as him.
SKETCHES
Client wanted to create a limited edition poster with him showcasing his two titles. So these were the drafts sent to them.
ILLUSTRATION
Once they decided to go with the second option, I took my sketch to illustrator and vectorized the image and worked a typographic header for the poster. Last step was add some lighting for dramatic badass effect.
PROCESS
I started with inks, then flat color, added the shadows for deepness, then some highlights. The hardest part always is drawing the championship belts. Thanks to the lightning everything came together nicely.
FINAL PIECE
The poster was sold as a limited edition piece for a meet and greet at 3D Sports Cards in Arizona. People not only could get this unique artwork but also have it signed on the spot by Alex Hammerstone.
